If I were to run away, these are the tunes I'd do it to.
1. Interstate Love Song, Stone Temple Pilots 2. Rearviewmirror, Pear Jam 3. Paradise City, GNR 4. Epic, Faith No More 5. Creep, Radiohead 6. Naked in the Rain, RHCP. Maybe. 7. Add it Up, Femmes (thanks J! And yeah, half of the songs floating in my head once were my hooptie mix-tapes) 8. Today, Smashing Pumpkins 9. When I Grow Up, Garbage 10. Come as You Are, Nirvana 11. 100%, Sonic Youth 12. Searching With My Good Eye Closed (Keidra, I had and lost this album, but I vaguely remember loving this song, so, thanks!) 13. Are You Gonna Go My Way, Lenny Kravitz (thanks, Jazz!) This list is an ongoing effort. Suggestions? Ah, it's haiku Tuesday, and yet I cannot think of anything I'd like to haikubleate. I reserve the right to do so later in the week.

Why no "I fought the law'r and the law'r won" sung by Colin Farrell? Or perhaps you're more optimistic about your running. . . .?
I'd be playing lots of U2 (can't wait to see the lads on Saturday!) until I couldn't stand remembering every moment of my life through its soundtrack, and some old-school Beastie Boys, Sebadoh, Neil Young, Sly, Massive Attack.
Why so few women on our lists?
"Searching with my Good Eye Closed" by Soundgarden, to me, is the ultimate, "I'm running away and happy, damnit!" song.
Damn, J, that is a serious list. I am so behind, musically. As you can see, the mid-late 90s was kinda where I stopped paying attention. But I do really need to check out everything on your list. Thanks!
My suggestions:
1) U2's Zoo Station, Bullet in the Blue Sky (Hey divine m! I'm going to the concert too!) and Elevation.
2) Beastie Boys Body Movin'
3) RHCP's Love Rollercoaster
4) Clash's Radio Clash or London Calling
5) Fight Club Soundtrack
6) Any old surfer rock
That's all I can think of right now.
U2 can blow me, staind makes me want to slash my wrists and shit, kravitz can die, but how about some OG fishbone, rage against the machine, bodycount, livin color, buddy guy-stone crazy, any eighties rap, and some AC/DC to set your head on stright
OK DEATH....I LOVE THESE GUYS TOO....
fishbone, rage against the machine, bodycount, livin color
YOU MADE ME WANNA GO DUST THEM OFF. THANKS.
